iOttie Dashboard Pad came Unstuck

Hello:

I recently purchased iOttie’s Premium Easy One Touch 4 Dash & Windshield Car Mount Phone Holder for my 2019 Toyota Prius C.  I installed it on my Dashboard using the iOttie Dashboard Pad. Went Ridesharing for the night and everything worked great. Neither the  Suction Cup nor the Adhesive Dashboard pad Failed.

This afternoon I came down to the car and my phone mount was on the floor. The Dashboard Pad had peeled off the Dashboard. I was wondering if anyone has come up with a hack or a procedure for installing the Dashboard Pad so that it stays Stuck.

    Have you tried washing the suction cup with warm water (no soap) while massaging the cup to get all the dirt out and then letting it air dry? That brings the suction cup back to mint condition.

    Thanks Brittany.

     

    The problem isn't the suction cup, but rather, the adhesive pad that sticks to the Dashboard. It keeps peeling off of the Dashboard.

    I have had the same problem, I live in Las Vegas, Nevada and it gets really hot here, it was the first hot day of summer and the sticky pad not the suction cup came unglued from my dash board.
    How do we get a replacement that will work in the heat?

    Just a note for your engineers.  There is ample data out there that says interior car temperatures can well exceed 120 degrees in the direct sun.  You might want to have a product that meets those specs.

    I live in Florida and after going through 2 dashpads I gave up on using them.  The adhesive just can't stand up to the intense heat.  It stays glued to the dashboard, but the adhesive separates from the smooth underside of the dash pad.  I switched to just using the suction cup directly on my dashboard, which probably will eventually damage my dashboard, but as a rideshare driver it was my only real option.  Especially since iottie seems to be the only company that makes a mount with a long telescoping arm.

    Removing the residue from the suction cup is not easy after it's spent a few months in the heat.  When I took mine off the other day, the suction cup adhesive had bubbles in it, as if it had boiled.

    I bought a used one on Amazon, went on a 6 days trip, and came back. It kept falling from window shield each night, until I read this post, and tried this approach. It's now sticking to the windshield for a 24 hours now.

    Was it hot out? I live in FL and find mine will not stay stuck when it is hot out, 90's or above. Otherwise it works well. Not sure how to resolve this issue. I am going to try windshield mount method and see if that makes a difference

    Having the same problem it keeps falling to the floor I have one in my other car a older one and it is still in place I live in Florida also this one was not sticky from day one it even felt different

    Having same issue with the sticky pad on dash itself coming unstuck and iOttie (Easy One Touch 4 Wireless, Model HLCRIO134/135/136) falling to seat or floor. This occurs when hot and will not stay in place while driving at all now. Would also like to know if anyone has seen the actual installation instructions online or on this support page for any iOttie items? Love the item purchased, but if it can't stand up to situation posed, then why would I recommend to others.  

     

    Being in a "Hands-Free" state this is now a concern more so for my family and I. Yes, we now place the phone on the center console, but why purchase something that we can't use.

    Same problem! Live in NY - when I leave car outside on a hot summer day, mount comes unstuck to glue disk. I don't want to use Gorilla Glue to stick it to dashboard - what to do? 

    Only heat causes it to come unstuck - otherwise it was stable.

    I decided to try the vent mount being I really like iOttie style. So far it works well. I am a little hesitant to have my phone in it on a bumpy road. Does not seem to have as tight a grip on the phone as the dash mount and does not have the bottom "little feet" support. Has stayed secured to vent so far.

    Same issue.  For now I am using two sided tape.  It just became to much of a pain and bit of a distraction when it falls off in traffic.

    I had the same issue in Los Angeles.  Not only is it the temperature that's an issue, but my dash is also textured, so self-stick things often fall off.  My solution was to buy velcro intended for outdoors (like to fasten things to brick).  I stuck one side on the dash and the other on the bottom of the dash mount and let those set overnight without putting them together.  I then velcro'd them together.  That solved the first problem.  I then used the a second set of the same heavy duty outdoor velcro and stuck one part to the top of the car mount (now velcro'd to the dash), and the other part to the bottom of the suction cup (since the weight of my phone often caused the suction cup to come off, especially with temperature fluctuations).  I let those set overnight as well before connecting them.  Now I've got it all together and it never comes apart.  If I needed to remove the entire unit, it's just a matter of the bottom velcro that's stuck to the dash - and a solvent will help clear that up.  Hope this helps.

    What about using some type of 3M liquid adhesive used in the automotive industry.? Something more than just "Super Glue". This will definitely be a permanent application so you will definitely want to make sure you know where you are going to put it on the dash..
    Has anyone done this already? What do the folks at iOttie think about doing this?
