Car kit mounting options

The store I would be buying this product from does not carry the car charging product with the vent and cd mounts and windshield mounts. Looks like the difference between the 2 and 4 is the ball is either snapped in or tightened in. Are these balls the same? Say I could purchase a 2 with air and cd can I use it with the 4 suction mount? Thanks.
