Auto Sense backup power does not open clamps

I have bought two Auto Sense and neither open once I've turned off the car and press either button on the side of the Auto Sense. This should work using "Backup Power"  as referred to here: https://www.iottie.com/Product/Detail/5374/AutoSense-Wireless-Dash-Mount.

I've also tried charging it with a micro USB and power outlet at home for several hours with no effect.

What am I doing wrong because two faulty devices in a row seems strange?

  I have the same issue with 1 out of 3 devices that I purchased. Can it be repaired?
