Sticky gel pad will not stay stuck

Hi and Help! I've cleaned the dash per instruction but the sticky gel pad will not stay on the dashboard beyond 2-3 days. The dash is textured, but aren't most dashboards? Please advise. I need this to work. I'm leaving on a trip soon and need to see my phone for directions.
