Apple & Samsung will utilize standard charge to prevent the smartphone from overheating when applicable. Therefore, if you are using a GPS or listening to music while charging your device then you will obtain a minimal charging.
PLEASE NOTE: Most manufacturers apply limitations if you use the phone and charge simultaneously which will prevent a fast charge. Manufacturers apply this limitation to keep the phone from overheating and degrading the battery and electronic components.
